Objectives and competences

? Students will study the problems about waste in the environment, the emphasis will be on textile waste. ? They will search knowledge about the problems of waste from industry, particularly from the textile industries, about waste statistics and the possibilities of ecological balancing. ? They will study the influences of additives on recycling efficiency

Content (Syllabus outline)

Material fundamentals and polymer recycling (definitions and waste statistic) Environment and materials Waste minimisation Influence of textile industry on environment Virgin state of delivery, mixed polymers waste industrial waste, Economic Instruments for encouraging polymer recycling Structure and properties of elastomers and thermosets Recycling of textile waste by using conventional and non-conventional methods Introduction in reprocessing technology (extruding, feedstock recycling)

Learning and teaching methods

Teaching methods_ Systematic lectures Dialogue Practical work Learning methods: Abstractive conceptualisation Concrete experience Active experimentation

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

evaluate the research results about the problems of waste and recycling • Interpretation of basic knowledge about recycling of polymer materials on real solid waste • The student will be able to plan and proceed some calculations about technological processes for recycling polymer materials. • The student will be able to plan technological processes for recycling polymer materials.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

The student will be able to plan technological processes for recycling polymer materials.
