Objectives and competences
Independent (individual, group) theoretically grounded detailed research of a selected engineering problem;
Methodologically grounded implementation of research;
To develop a competence for theoretically and empirically based research in the field of study major;
To develop a competence for independent research and information search;
To develop a capability for independent use of acquired knowledge for problem solving in complex engineering problems;
To develop a competence for independent analysis and search theoretically grounded solutions for professional problems;
To develop a capability for a reasoned discussion and persuasion of professional publics;
To develop a capability for publishing research results.
Content (Syllabus outline)
Master thesis usually does not exceed sixty (60) pages or one hundred (100) pages with appendices.
Obligatory constitutive parts of the master thesis are:
1. cover title page,
2. inside title page,
3. original faculty decision form with approval of the master thesis subject,
4. student's statement about the authorship of the master thesis,
5. acknowledgements,
6. summary of the master thesis in Slovenian and in foreign (English or German) language, UDK classification and key words,
7. master thesis contents index,
8. index of images (optional),
9. Content of tables (optional)
10. list of used symbols and abbreviations,
11. master thesis contents, which includes:
• introduction,
• overview of the master thesis subject,
• the working methods used
• results and discussion,
• conclusions,
12. list of used sources (literature),
13. appendices (if they exist).
Learning and teaching methods
The appointed supervisor monitors the content and the structural aspect of diploma work and appropriately professionally counsels the student during consultations, student performs individual research work.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Capability to use scientific methods in research.
Mastering of systematic information (sources) search.
Mastering of professional writing techniques.
Capability for searching appropriate solutions for research problems.
Capability of critical situation assessment,problem analysis and solution synthesis.
