Objectives and competences

Student will be able to: use innovative learning and teaching technologies using digital content: extended reality (augmented reality, mixed reality, virtual reality). Discuss about the directives on environmental impact on health in Slovenia and Europe. Interpret environmental pollutants and impact on human health. Discuss about climate change and degradation of the living environment and sustainable waste management. Interpret human biomonitoring, nature protection, preservation of biodiversity and ecosystems. Use environmental indicators of public health: emissions in environment (air, water, soil).

Content (Syllabus outline)

Presentation and use of innovative learning and teaching technologies using digital content: extended reality (augmented reality, mixed reality, virtual reality). Digital learning materials will be prepared to deliver content such as: The directives on environmental impact on health in Slovenia and Europe. Environmental pollutants and impact on human health: persistent organic pollutants (POPs), heavy metals, mycotoxins, pesticides and biocidal products, pharmaceuticals, endocrine disruptors, allergens, microplastics, volatile organic compounds (VOC), asbestos, nitrogen, sulphur and PM compounds in air, noise, radiation. Climate change and degradation of the living environment (pollution of drinking and waste water, soil, air, sea, floods, droughts, fires, food safety, etc.) Sustainable waste management (reuse, waste recycling). Human biomonitoring. Nature protection, preservation of biodiversity and ecosystems. Data basis with environmental indicators of public health: emissions in environment (air, water, soil).

Understand and analyse climate change and degradation of the living environment. Understand sustainable waste management. Understand human biomonitoring. Understand nature protection, preservation of biodiversity and ecosystems. Evaluate environmental indicators of public health: emissions in environment (air, water, soil).

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

Student will be able to analyse and evaluateon environmental impact on health and to evaluate environmental indicators of public health.
