Objectives and competences
The aim of the study course is to train PhD students to explore research in a group and individually.
Planned competencies that will be earned PhD student in the course are:
• Critical analysis and evaluation of the scientific literature, of which the results could be implemented, or to solve or improve a problem in practice.
• Ability to formulate questions relevant in health care and related sciences; to develop an hypothesis; to find an appropriate method of research and to establish an appropriate research sample,
• Ability to get to the data and the results from the research; Ability to answer to scientific questions.
• Ability to properly resolve ethical dilemmas in research work.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• Critical analysis and evaluation of the scientific nursing literature, implementation of the results in practice.
• Assessment of the quality of the quantitative content (or a combination of quantitative and qualitative) of a published scientific paper.
• Fields of research in nursing.
• The choice of doing a quantitative research method or to combine with a qualitative method of research.
• Design of Research
• How to plan to conduct research, and what we need to be aware of.
• Selection of an appropriate method or various methods of research.
• Selection of a suitable research sample.
• How to know in which way to proceed with the research results.
• Ethics of research work.
