Student will learn about: • Basics of scientific writing • Preparation of scientific manuscript for publication • A scientific manuscript submission process • Editorial process • Peer review process • Ethical and legal aspects of publishing, including conflict of interest, authorship, copyright, open access, (self)plagiarism • Preparation of effective presentation and promotion of scientific research work

Content (Syllabus outline)

• The basics of writing for publication • Writing an original journal article • Writing a review article • EQUATOR reporting guidelines • Manuscript preparation according to journal’s author guidelines • Manuscript submission and editorial process • Ethical and legal aspects of publishing • Presenting and promoting scientific research work Student can obtain content in other members of the University of Maribor. The coordinator/lecturer will determine the number of ECTS based on students’ certificates.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Student will be able to: • demonstrate nursing science writing proficiency, including style, form, content and organization, • understand the process of writing, editing, submitting and peer reviewing of publications, • appraise ethical issues in scientific writing, including conflict of interest, authorship, copyright, open access, (self)plagiarism, • identify appropriate journal for scientific manuscript submission based on his research topic, • prepare a draft of scientific manuscript for publication following the guidelines from an appropriately selected journal, • apply EQUATOR reporting guidelines when preparing a scientific manuscript. • prepare an effective research presentation and promotion.
