• Borrowed nursing theories to ensure quality and safety of patient care
• Understand importance of strategies and models of improving quality and safety of patient care
• Lean technology in nursing and good practice example of NHS’s Productive ward to provide safe and efficient patient care

Theoretical, philosophical and practical discussions on the caring science and art
• Caring theories (Watson, Duffy) as a theoretical framework for researching quality and safety of patient care
• Borrowed nursing theories for quality and safety of patient care
• Strategies and models for improving the quality and safety of patient care
• The use of lean technology in nursing care: example of NHS's Productive ward (improving safety and efficiency in shift handovers, medicines, meals, patient hygiene, admissions and planned discharge, patient observations, nursing procedures)

On completion of this course the student will be able
to:
• Discuss about caring science and art of patient care.
• Use caring theory (Watson or Duffy) as theoretical framework for researching quality and safety of patient care.
• Analyse borrowed theories (Reason, NAT, HRT) of nursing care for assuring quality and safety of patient care.
• Compare and contrast different strategies and models improvement for selected problems in the field of quality and safety of patient care.
• Orally and in writing propose solutions of complex selected problems in field of quality and safety of patient care.
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
• information gathering,
• use of information technology: use programs tools for preparing and editing documents, presentations and citation,
• writing research reports and scientific articles,
• verbal communication skills: presentation of the project.
