Text about acceptance

The Senate of Maribor University discussed the study programme and adopted it at its meeting on 25. 10. 2005. On 18. 11. 2005, the Council for Higher Education of the Republic of Slovenia granted accreditation in the procedure of introducing the study programme.

Study advancement options

The graduate can continue his/her study at Masters study programme 2. degree postgraduate level at universities or other higher education institutions whose study programmes accept students with the achieved higher professional education level.

Employment possibilities

The graduate will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for creative leadership, innovative planning, and creation and transfer of knowledge in the agricultural sector. He/she can get employed in the agricultural production and processing, trade and services, educational sector, extension services, state organs, etc.

General competences of graduates, gained at a study programme

The obtained knowledge will help the graduates to be better leaders, developers and users of modern production technologies in gardening and field word. By getting familiarized with quality schemes and methods the graduates learn how to manage and maintain good quality products and services. The emphasis is on obtaining an interdisciplinary understanding of production systems and the capacity to develop new production technologies and understand technical, economic and environmental viewpoints in production.

Subject specific competences of graduates, gained on a study programme

The obtained knowledge will help the graduates to be better leaders, developers and users of modern production technologies in gardening and field word. Access requirements

Any candidate can enrol to the 'Agronomy - ornamental, vegetables and field and crops' study programme who holds a final examination certificate of a four-year secondary education programme, a vocational Matura or a general Matura certificate.

Selection criteria in the event of limited enrolment

If a decision is taken to restrict enrolment, the candidates will be selected according to the following criteria: • Overall success in the third and fourth year of the Secondary school 40% of points, • Overall success at the Matura Exam, Vocational Matura Exam or final exam 60% of points.

Criteria for completing the study

A student completes the study programme when all obligations of the programme are fulfilled, when the diploma thesis is successfully defended and when at least 180 ECTS are collected altogether.
