Objectives and competences
• Introduction into compositional practice basing on harmonic way of forming musical material with special accent on harmonic style of the 18. century.
• Making students familiar with individual creative work conected with teaching praxis and with ability for understanding and analysis of works of the classical period, with a special accent of the implementation of the theory of functionality.
• Ability to transferr the knowledge and principles of compositional techniques from the past periods into the field of modern harmonic attitudes.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• Student will be acquainte with themes like diatonical modulations, sequences,ostinato and pedal tone.
• Through the principle of understanding he will get the ability of writng of diatonical harmonical exercises using various techniques.
• He will be acquainted with basical principles
of leading bass, functional and mediant technique.
• Harmonisations of soprano, alto, tenor and bas.
• Writing of original miniatures in strict and free compositional technique.
• Student should be motivated to develop skills for the use of knowledges in the praxis through the process of understanding the materia.
• On the basis of analysis of gained knowledges and statements to redirect the student into the way of synthesis and evaluation of the materia.
• Through the process of imitation and presentation developement of psychomotorical skills by the student.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
On completion of this course the student will be able to:
• Use the acquired knowledge in executing less complicated compositional skills. Link theoretical and practical knowledge.

Solving problems: the ability to understand and losing compositional tasks.
Communicational skills and ability to have a good communication with his environment, the abbility of practical composing in the primary process of teaching and later professional career.
