Assesment criteria

Regulations and syllabi provide for each study unit forms of evaluation and assessment. Instantaneous methods of knowledge evaluation and assessment are encouraged, enabling students to control their own study development directly.

Main study programme objectives

To provide education for proficient graduates who will be able to solve engineering problems by the innovative intermodal connection of different disciplines. - To provide education of graduates in transportation engineering whose completed studies will allow them to work around Europe and worldwide. - To enable students to transfer between related undergraduate programmes. - To harmonize the study programme with Bologna Declaration which indirectly provides international comparison and transfer. - To provide better student transfer with the focus on expanded individual work under the leadership of a mentor (tutor) in senior years. - Our wish is the accreditation of the programme to acquire the title Euro-eng which demands harmonization of the programme with minimum requirements of the FEANI Association: a. Mathematics and natural science at least 20 % of all ECTS. b. Advanced mathematics (linear algebra, analytic geometry, differential and integral equation, numerical analysis, operational research, ...) at least 24 ECTS. c. Engineering courses at least 60 % of all ECTS in three-year study and 50 % in longer study. d. Non-engineering subjects (communicational skills, economics, management, team work, law, safety environment, languages, ...) around 10 % of all ECTS.

General competences of graduates, gained at a study programme

Ability to connect principles of sustainable development, basics of economics, legal regime, problems of space and settlement development, challenges in environment protection with issues on providing mobility of inhabitants and economy competition. - Creativity and innovativeness as a result of a wide spectrum of the study contents. - Ability to analyse, synthesize and predict solutions and consequences. - Proficiency in the fundamental research methods, procedures and processes, development of critical and self-critical judgement. - Ability to use their knowledge in practice. - Communication skills, the ability to communicate in international environment. - Ethic reflexion and commitment to professional ethics. - Cooperativity and team work ability in international environment. Furthermore, students gain knowledge for: - Coherent proficiency in fundamental knowledge (natural sciences, mathematics with statistics, informatics, mechanics) and ability to connect and apply knowledge from different fields. - Usage of information-communication technology and systems in their professional field. - Implementation of new information and interpretation in the context of their fundamental discipline. - Understanding of general structure of their fundamental discipline and connection between its sub-disciplines. - Skill development for implementation of their knowledge in a certain professional field.

Subject specific competences of graduates, gained on a study programme

In terms of specific competences, students of the undergraduate university study Transportation Engineering will gain: - Understanding of interdependence in the system “space – living function – mobility needs” both in historical context (Sustainable transportation and mobility) and in wider context (Selected themes from geography, Urban and regional planning fundamentals). - Understanding of procedures and criteria in sustainable mobility insurance (Transportation planning, The basis of the environmental management, Basics of legal system, Transport economics, Traffic safety). - Understanding of certain phenomena, properties and elements of the traffic system (Transportation system, Transportation means, Traffic flows theory, Railways) - Understanding of criteria in planning, design, construction and maintenance of traffic infrastructure (Transportation routes design, Transportation facilities construction, Transport infrastructure management). - Understanding of technological processes in transport as well as methods and procedures of traffic organization (Traffic technology, Traffic organization). - Understanding of potentials in usage of telecommunication, automation and information technologies in transportation (Transportation telematics, Special chapters in geodesy/GIS) - Ability to communicate within a company and with partners and clients. - Ability to solve certain (less demanding) work problems by means of research methods and procedures. - Graduates of this undergraduate study programme is not competent to independently manage projects in transportation route construction, however, they can participate in the project team by performing certain duties. - Graduates of this undergraduate study programme can participate in arranging municipality, urban, regional, national spatial and developmental plans. - Graduates are capable of independent dimensioning of transportation routes, surfaces and terminals. - Graduates are competent for independent and creative performing certain duties in transport companies as well as individual more demanding duties in teams. Students further acquire the knowledge to: - ensuring population mobility, - planning transportation systems and subsystems, - designing, planning, constructing, and maintaining road networks, - traffic management and traffic flows, - transport planning and implementation.

Access requirements

The enrolment into university degree study programme of Traffic and Transportation Engineering is possible if: a) the student has passed the matura examination, b) the student has passed the vocational matura in any secondary school programme and the examination in matura subject mathematics or foreign language, if he passed mathematics as the vocational matura examination, c) the student has completed any secondary school programme before 1.6.1995.

Selection criteria in the event of limited enrolment
