Text about acceptance

The study programme was in the course of the accreditation procedure validated November 26, 2015, by the University of Maribor, Senate of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences Kranj, and, after that, April 19, 2016, by the Senate of the University of Maribor, the decision about the study programme accreditation was granted by the Council of the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (SQAA) as of January 19, 2017.

Advancement criteria of a study programme

Conditions for progression to the 2nd year: a student advances into 2nd year, if he has collected at least 40 ECTS credits with the obligations of the 1st year that he completed. Conditions for progression to the 3rd year: a student advances into 3rd year, if he has completed all obligations of the 1st year (collected 60 ECTS) and has collected at least 40 ECTS credits in the 2nd year.

Criteria for completing separate parts of a study programme

At the moment, the 1st-Cycle Professional study programme does not include parts which can be completed singly.

A graduate may continue studies at: - the 2nd-cyclel Master's study programme

Employment possibilities

The goal of the Management in Sport BA study programme (professionally oriented higher education) is to ensure the widest possible employment opportunities for graduates in commercial and non-commercial organizations, sports associations, etc. Graduates that will complete the Management in Sport BA study programme (professionally oriented higher education) can be employed as operative staff in the field of purchasing, sales, marketing and human resources, and in the field of management and administration (managers or associates for infrastructure facilities and projects, such as: project managers, heads of marketing and finance departments, coordinators or associates and representatives for public relations, etc.).

Assesment criteria

Methods of testing knowledge are defined in the each individual course syllabus.

Main study programme objectives

Subject specific competences of graduates, gained on a study programme

Over the duration of the study programme, graduate competencies will be expressed as personal characteristics of students, such as effectiveness in performance of individual work, individual’s desire and ability to perform their task, and individual’s effectiveness. The environment of the institution where the study programme will be carried out will have a significant impact on the achievement of graduate competencies. The students will have the option of performing practical training in organizations organizing the largest sports events in Faculty vicinity: Planica, Kranjska gora, Bled and Pokljuka. The study programme shall be designed to develop the following competencies: Organization-relevant personal characteristics, such as independence, critical thinking skills, self-confidence, reliability, responsibility, and professionalism. Skills: information on key facts, models, tools, principles and dependencies (structural knowledge), understanding of things, competence for carrying out procedures, a sense for division of work within an organization, a sense of time, a sense of environment. Personal and social skills: sensory abilities, creativity, understanding emotions and effective communication. Self-esteem.

Access requirements

In the 1st–cycle professional higher study programme Management in sport anyone can enrol who has completed the final exam in any four year high school programme, vocational matura or matura.

Selection criteria in the event of limited enrolment

If the Decision of Limited Enrolment is adopted, the candidates will be selected according to: - The overall achievement at the final examination, vocational matura or matura: 60% of the points, - overall achievement in the 3rd and 4th year: 40% of the points.

Criteria for recognition of knowledge and skills, gained before the enrolment in the study programme

Criteria for recognition of knowledge and skills are regulated by Regulations on knowledge and skill recognition in study programmes of the University of Maribor.

Criteria for completing the study

A student completes the study programme when all obligations of the programme are fulfilled, when the diploma thesis is successfully defended and when at least 180 ECTS are collected altogether.
