Objectives and competences

In the course, the student systematically acquires knowledge in the field of management accounting, which is linked to activities in organizations in the field of healthcare, especially for the decision-making needs in business. It is knowledge about the use and applicability of management accounting concepts in healthcare organizations.

Content (Syllabus outline)

• Introduction to management accounting • Costs and profit (loss) measurement • Information for decision-making • Information for planning, control and performance measurement

Learning and teaching methods

Lectures and discussions in the classroom. Studying examples and solving tasks, including discussion. Independent study of the student.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Students: Knowledge and understanding: • Gain an understanding of knowledge in the interdisciplinary field of management accounting and organizations in the field of healthcare. • They are aware of dilemmas related to business operations in healthcare organizations, management accounting and data. • They know and understand various methods and techniques applicable to their work.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

Students: Cognitive/Intellectual skills: • They know how to critically examine the problems in the tasks and choose the appropriate way to solve them. • They know how to identify and examine problems from various perspectives and synthesize information. • They know how to solve problems in practice independently. Key/Transferable skills: • They develop skills and abilities for independent use of management accounting concepts and their connection to problems in organizations in the field of healthcare. • They develop the skill of explaining tasks in management accounting to others. • They acquire the skills and knowledge to prepare information with minimal guidance. • They develop the ability to evaluate their performance and the performance of others. Practical skills: • They acquire knowledge regarding identifying a problem, its structuring, analysis and resolution within the management accounting framework. • They acquire knowledge about the creation and use of information from the field of management accounting, including the use of management accounting methods and techniques, which enables them to work independently.
