Objectives and competences

In this course students: 1. recognize and understand the basic concepts of corporate entrepreneurship; 2. distinguish corporate entrepreneurship from other forms of entrepreneurship and innovation in organizations; 3. recognize organizational conditions that promote or inhibit the development of corporate entrepreneurship; 4. develop basic skills for identifying, analyzing, and evaluating opportunities for corporate entrepreneurship; 5. acquire basic knowledge for planning and implementing corporate entrepreneurship initiatives; 6. develop the ability to analyze business practice cases and formulate basic recommendations for companies and other organizations; 7. develop the ability to communicate professionally in writing and orally in the field of corporate entrepreneurship.

Content (Syllabus outline)

1. Definition of corporate entrepreneurship (intrapreneurship) and its relation with entrepreneurship 2. Definition and characteristics of intrapreneurs, their support and training 3. Dimensions and development of corporate entrepreneurship 4. Theoretical concepts and models of corporate entrepreneurship 5. Corporate entrepreneurship process 6. Establishing intrapreneurship in the organization 7. Organizational forms of intrapreneurship and their management 8. Identification, evaluation and selection of business opportunities for intrapreneurship 9. Methods and tools for the realization of intrapreneurship projects and activities 10. Infrastructure for the promotion of intrapreneurship (technology transfer units, incubators, venture capital funds, etc.) 11. Case studies - successful and unsuccessful business cases

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Development of knowledge and understanding: Student: 1. explain the basic concepts, dimensions, and forms of corporate entrepreneurship; 2. distinguish corporate entrepreneurship from other forms of entrepreneurship; 3. describe the role of strategy, organizational structure, culture, and leadership in the development of corporate entrepreneurship; 4. recognize basic ethical issues and intellectual property issues in the field of corporate entrepreneurship.

Cognitive/Intellectual skills: Student: 1. analyzes a selected case of corporate entrepreneurship based on given starting points; 2. collects, organizes, and interprets basic data and information for assessing corporate entrepreneurship initiatives; 3. assesses the appropriateness of organizational solutions for promoting corporate entrepreneurship; 4. compares successful and unsuccessful examples of corporate entrepreneurship. Key/Transferable skills: 1. uses information and communication technology in preparing analyses and presentations; 2. works in a team to address a selected problem or project; 3. prepares a structured written report or seminar paper; 4. presents findings and proposals in a clear and reasoned manner.. Practical skills: Student: 1. prepares a basic analysis of an existing or potential corporate entrepreneurship project based on the guidelines provided; 2. uses basic tools to identify and evaluate business opportunities in existing companies; 3. formulates basic recommendations for promoting corporate entrepreneurship in a specific organization.

Prerequisits

A passing grade in the written exam is a prerequisite for the consideration of other assessment elements (seminar paper, coursework, class participation).
