Objectives and competences
In this course students:
1. Enhance their theoretical knowledge in the field of law of contracts, competition law, law of consumers protection, law of intellectual property, methods of resolving disputes, from the view of national, international an EU legislation, and are able to apply it.
2. Gain the ability to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice in the field of business law, especially in the field of contracts law.
Content (Syllabus outline)
1. Contract law
- sales contract: international sale (Wiena C, development of European Union contract law);
- distribution of goods and services (agency, commission, distribution)
- modern types of contract (leasing, factoring franchising.
- E-contracts and e-signatures: legal validity and regulation of electronic contracts and electronic signatures.
2. Instruments of payment's insurance
3. Competition law.
4. Consumer Protection ((data protection and privacy, effects of the GDPR on businesses, data protection obligations, sanctions and examples of breaches).
5. Public procurement in the RS
6. Introduction into the intellectual property law (registration procedure in Slovenia and EU, international procedure, content of some intellectual rights and their legal protection).
7. Resolving business disputes (especially international, including alternative ways of resolving disputes).

Students:
1. Acquire specific knowledge in the field of national and international business law.
2. Get a detailed knowledge of theories in the field of contracts law, focusing on the specificities of contracting in the digital age.
3. Recognise interconnections in the field of contracts law, law of consumers protection and competitive law.
4. Develop the skills to interpret the gained results in the field of contracts law.
5. Become qualified to analyze privacy and data protection in business processes.
