Objectives and competences
In this course students enhance their basic accounting knowledge with knowledge of basic methods and tools of management accounting and gain the ability to create and use accounting information in certain types of business decisions.

Development of knowledge and understanding:
Students:
- are familiarized with the role and importance of cost and managerial accounting in an organization
- acquire knowledge of different cost classifications for different purposes
- acquire fundamental knowledge of basic principles and methods of preparing relevant accounting information for decision making purposes
- learn how to recognize economic consequences of business decisions
- develop the skills to prepare and use relevant accounting information for certain types of business decisions

• are able to evaluate the importance and significance of business decision data and to select appropriate techniques for problem solving

Additional information on implementation and assessment • Written exam, the written exam may be replaced by two interim tests. Regular attendance at lectures (at least 70%) is a prerequisite for taking the interim tests.
• Students may gain additional bonus points by actively participating in lectures and tutorials, which will be added to the points obtained in the written exam or interim tests (up to a maximum of 10% of the written exam).
