Objectives and competences
In this course students:
1. Enhance their theoretical knowledge in the field of general management with knowledge from the field of project management and are able to apply it.
2. Acquire understanding about the role of projects in different business environments and for companies’ development, growth and their competitiveness.
3. Gain the ability to apply their theoretical knowledge about project management on the practical project cases.
4. Understand the necessary knowledge and competences structure for successful work in the project environment.
Content (Syllabus outline)
- the importance of projects for the design and implementation of organizations’ and other systems development,
- project oriented strategies and operations implementation,
- project-oriented companies and other organizations,
- the definition and classification of projects,
- stakeholders in the project environment,
- project phases and its lifecycle,
- the processes of designing, planning and starting up projects,
- organization of projects and project organization with the basic principles of organizing project-oriented companies and other organizations,
- leading through the project’s lifecycle,
- monitoring and controlling through the project’s lifecycle,
- project information system,
- the structure of the knowledge and competences of the project manager.
Learning and teaching methods
- classical lecturing;

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Students:
1. Acquire specific knowledge in the field of project preparation, dismembering project organization and its inclusion into holistic organization.
2. Have a detailed knowledge about connectedness between strategic planning with project management and of theories in the field of project management and their importance for successful start-up and implementation of projects.
3. Learn to recognise different project types and understand their connection with company’s success, development and acquiring higher competitiveness; they recognise differences among project oriented organizations and project oriented business operations.
4. Develop the skills to interpret the gained results in the field of project preparation, project implementation controlling and project closing.
5. Learn how to analyse and synthesise different aspects on the project definition and project life cycle phases.
6. Are able to pursue further analysis regarding problems in multiproject environment and multiproject business operations.
7. Are qualified to control and supervise the processes of projects preparation and implementation.
8. Can demonstrate awareness of wider social and environmental ethical issues, arising from project goals and reached project results.

Students:
1. Understand and apply critical analysis and theory development and their usability in solving real professional problems, with minimum guidance.
2. Get the ability to search for and synthesize new information from the field of project management in literature and praxis.
3. Synthesize different knowledge and procedures and are aware of importance of use of professional literature.
4. Can select appropriate techniques for problem solving and are able to evaluate the importance and significance of data.
5. Can identify key aspects of problem from different view points.

Students:

Practical skills:
Students:
1. Get practical experience in the field of team work, using IT for project planning, communicating inside project system and presenting and arguing project; on practical cases linking knowledge from technical, economic, organization and other fields (developing interdisciplinary).
2. Are able to act autonomously with defined guidelines and certain level of supervision.
