Objectives and competences

Students will: • develop communicational competence in German business language and adopt simple business terminology; • develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through simple business texts; • use autonomous the basics of the German grammar in practical business situations.

Content (Syllabus outline)

• The basics of business communication in the German language (introducing him/herself, talk about the company/workplace/ his/her job, making arrangements) • Selected grammar at A1/A2 level of the Common EU Framework

Learning and teaching methods

• explanation and discussion method • role playing • group work • pair work • teaching and learning through the didactic use of ICT (Moodle,Wordwall etc.)

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and understanding: Students: • Learn the basics of expressing themselves in German in the field of economics and business. • Are able to make business conversation on the phone/ are able to write short business messages in German at basic level. • Learn to managae several situations in professional and everyday life in German.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

Cognitive/Intellectual skills: • Can collect and arrange data and ideas. • Students develop greater independence of thought and the ability to solve problems. • Students work effectively with others, and contribute to group efforts by sharing ideas. Key/Transferable skills • Use ICT. • Develop skills for time management and work to deadlines. • Develop learning techniques and strategies for individual study, permanent reflection and evaluation. • Develop interest for lifelong learning. • Develop an interest in sustainable and inclusive societies. Practical skills: • Are capable of effective and appropriate written and oral communication in German within simple business situations. • Use online dictionaries and other language tools.
