Objectives and competences

In this course students: 1. Enhance their theoretical knowledge of macroeconomics. 2. Gain the ability to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice in the economic policy field. 3. Acquire analytical approach to analysis of theory and practice of economic policy.

Content (Syllabus outline)

- Key macroeconomic variables - Measurement of macroeconomic activity - Business cycle - Globalisation and changes in business environment - Disturbances and shocks in economy - Open economy, internal and external balance - Instruments of economic policy - Principles and strategies in economic policy - Financial crises and economic policy - Economic policy in a small open economy

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Development of knowledge and understanding Students: 1. Acquire specific knowledge in the field of macroeconomics. 2. Have a detailed knowledge of of targets and instruments of economic policy. . 3. Are able to pursue a further study in the field of macreocnomics and economic policy. 4. Are qualified to monitor and explain the measures oeconomic policy.

Cognitive/Intellectual skills: Students: 1. Acquire an understanding and application of theories in the field of macroeconomics and economic policy. 2. Acquire the ability to search and synthesize new information in the field of economic policy in theory and practice. 3. Learn to integrate different knowledge in the content field of the course. Key/Transferable skills Students: 1. Develop skills and abilities for application and upgrading of the acquired knowledge in the field of economic policy 2. Upgrade the ability to become an autonomous learner. Practical skills: Students: 1. Acquire knowledge to explain current questions and actions in the area of economic policy
