Objectives and competences
In this course students:
1. Enhance their theoretical knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship and are able to apply it.
2. Gain the ability to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice in the entrepreneurship field.
3. Acquire aplicable approach to search and evaluate business opportunities and analys specific functional areas within companies
4. Acquire advanced knowledge of basic theoretical approaches in the field of business economics, marketing, finance, accounting and organisation.
Content (Syllabus outline)
Introduction to entrepreneurship. Characteristics and importance of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial demographics.
• The entrepreneur and their role.
• Psychological and sociological aspects of entrepreneurship.
• The process of starting and building companies. Idea. Team. Resources.
• Key entrepreneurial tools and their role in the entrepreneurial process.
• User research and problem validation.
• Developing a business idea presentation. How to structure a persuasive business idea pitch.
• Forms of entrepreneurship. Intrapreneurship. Family entrepreneurship. Innovation-driven entrepreneurship. Non-profit entrepreneurship. Franchising.
• Key elements of a competitive business environment for entrepreneurship.

Students:
1. Acquire specific knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship
2. Gain detailed knowledge of searching and identification of business opportunities and introduction to theories that explain entrepreneurial processes.
3. Learn to search and recognise interconnections of new ventures and socio-economic conditions in society.
4. Develop the skills to interpret market signals that capable of being transformed into new ventures.
5. Learn how to analyse and synthesise different approaches to establishing new ventures
6. Are able to pursue further analysis regarding entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial processes.
7. Gain broader understanding of different types of entrepreneurship and available resources for new ventures.
8. Can demonstrate awareness of wider social and environmental ethical issues in areas of entrepreneurship.

Prerequisits
A passing grade in the written exam is a prerequisite for the consideration of other assessment elements (seminar paper, coursework, class participation).
Additional information on implementation and assessment - fieldwork 10%
- seminar paper 30%
- written exam 60%
Written exam or written assessment with midterm exams. The written assessment includes two midterm exams. Students shall pass the written examination if they achieve a total of 56% of the maximum possible marks in both midterm exams.
