Objectives and competences
In this course students:
1. Are familiarised with the basic terminology used in various fields of economics and business and which is related to other subjects studied in the 1st year.
2. Develop specific listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through authentic business texts.
3. Develop specific business communication skills (telephoning, e- mail, meetings), in every-day and professional situations.
4. Develop positive attitude and tolerance towards cultural differences and speakers of foreign languages.
5. Identify and learn SDGs
Content (Syllabus outline)
Various economics and business topics are studies in order to achieve language confidence in different situations, i.e. company presentations, product presentations, etc. In addition, the students become acquainted with the basics of commercial correspondence. Students will learn more about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), created to end poverty, reduce inequalities and tackle climate change.

Students:
1. Will use business German in professional life in spoken or written communication, further study and successful work at home or abroad.
2. Are able to make business conversation on the phone at intermediate level.
3. Are able to write business letters/e-mail messages in German at intermediate level
4. Students will improve their sustainability awareness with the aim of becoming ethical global citizens.

Študenti naj redno berejo spletne časopise v nemškem jeziku, kot so Das Handelsblatt, Die Wirtschaftswoche itd.
Prerequisits
Knowledge of the German language equivalent to level B1.
Additional information on implementation and assessment - completed homework; 10%
- oral examination*; 20%
- written examination ** 70%
* A student is obliged to pass the oral examination on a scheduled date otherwise the exam total score is not sufficient.
A student who misses the opportunity to pass the oral exam in the current academic year is allowed to take the oral exam on the scheduled dates in the following academic year.
** The written examination may be replaced by 2 tests. If the student fails the first test (negative mark), they cannot sit for the second test. The student passes the written examination if they achieve 56% out of the maximum possible points in each of the two tests.
