Objectives and competences

Development of knowledge and understanding Students: 1. Will use business German in professional life in spoken or written communication, further study and successful work at home or abroad. 2. Learn to write, think and express themselves accurately in German in the field of economics and business. 3. Are able to make business conversation on the phone at upper-intermediate level. 4. Are able to write business letters / e-mail messages in German at upper-intermediate level. 5. Are able to speak in differrent business contexts and communicate ideas effectively. Cognitive/Intellectual skills Students: 1. Can collect and arrange data and ideas. 2. Develop individual qualities such as responsibility, integrity and respect for self and others. 3. Students develop greater independence of thought and the ability to solve problems. 4. Students will work effectively with others, and contribute to group efforts by sharing ideas.

Content (Syllabus outline)

The subject comprises various topics and vocabulary form the field of economics and business as well as situations in which the future graduates will use the language, i.e. human resource management, solving conflict situations, products and services, meetings and negotiations within the business context. In addition, the students upgrade the basics of commercial correspondence (content and style and miscellaneous correspondence within business context).
