Objectives and competences

Objectives: • To acquaint students with basic knowledge in the field of process engineering • Strengthen competence for solving problems in the field process engineering and consolidating the engineering research approach. Competences: • Ability to use acquired knowledge in the independent solution of technical problems in the field of process engineering. • Ability to search for sources, critically assess information, independently upgrade knowledge in the field of process engineering.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Fundamentals of process engineering • Fundamentals of multicomponent, multiphase systems. • Mass balances • Energy balances • Basics of processes • Mixing • Drying • Evaporation • Distillation • Absorption and adsorption • Modeling of two-phase flows. • Heat exchangers and energy devices • Heat transfer

Learning and teaching methods

Type (examination, oral, coursework, project): • writen examination • oral examination/questionnaire(e-quiz). • laboratory exercise report NOTES: for a positive exam, each part must be positive (50%); an individual part of the examination may be replaced by partial exams; partial exams are valid until the end of the academic year

Knowledge and understanding: • In-depth theoretical, methodological and analytical knowledge with elements of research in the field of process engineering .

Transferable/Key Skills and other attributes: • Successful work on energy development research projects • Mastering very demanding, complex work processes in the field of process engineering. • The ability to come up with original solutions and critical reflection when solving problems in the field of process engineering.
