Objectives and competences
Objectives:
• Understanding the role and system of technical documentation in the development process and the entire life cycle of the product.
• Gaining theoretical and practical knowledge of technical drawing.
• Understanding rules and develop skills of evaluation of terms, concepts and rules that apply to the field of production, interpretation, and application of technical documentation.
• Develop the skills of spatial geometry modeling and CAD systems.
• Learn methods to present 3D geometrical models and and transfer information between CAD systems and into 2D documentation.
Competences:
• To acquire techniques of presenting the spatial form of an object with projections. Preparation of technical documentation.
• The student can provide appropriate interpretations of the content and produce a medium difficulty technical drawing.
• Use of CAD systems for creating technical documentation.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• Introduction to graphics communications and the role of documentation in engineering process.
• Descriptive geometry and projections.
• Technical drawing in accordance with Slovenian (SIST) and international (ISO) standards. Technical documentation production (formats, lines, drawing composition).
• Technical drawings: guidelines, views, projections, sections, dimensioning.
• Simplifications in the presentation of standard elements; use of symbolic information (e.g., symbols of the quality of surfaces).
• 3D modelling and impact of CAD systems in 3D and 2D documentation.
• Computer representation of 3D geometry
• Assemblies
• Production of technical documentation from 3D models; dimensioning and finalization of drawings.
• Generation of bill of materials.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Knowledge and understanding:
• Understanding the basic of technical expression by using sketch, drawing and computer model.
• Combined use of different standards for technical drawing and software for drawing and modelling. Production of assembly and part drawing.
• Finishing drawings (views, sections, GDT).
• Understand the use of computer aided technologies in technical documentation creation.
