Objectives and competences

The objective of the course is for students to be able to recognize the process-oriented perception of systems and to apply visual language for their modeling

Content (Syllabus outline)

• Process theory in information systems: motivation for managing processes, the definition of a process, process constituent parts, process characteristics. • Foundations of conceptual modeling and diagrammatic communication. • Process models basics: visual notations, process model quality, process architecture, process model abstraction levels, process model complexity. • Petri nets: basics, properties, types, workflow nets, reachability graphs, soundness, workflow patterns • Business process modeling with BPMN: basics, syntax, semantics, best practices, process patterns, process landscapes. • Modeliranje poslovnih odločitev z DMN: basics, syntax, semantics, best practices. • Declarative notations and modeling of non-structured processes. • Examples and analysis of key processes in informatics, aligned with COBIT and ITIL frameworks: requirements management, configuration management, project planning, etc.
