Objectives and competences
The objectives and competences of the course are:
- to expand the knowledge of general English and ESP in media,
- to correctly use the foreign language in oral, written and reading expressions,
- to correctly understand the spoken conversation,
- to write a seminar paper and to present it in the class.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
• present opinions and views about a selected media topic in formal public speech,
• demonstrate and express (in written and oral forms) the acquired knowledge of general and technical English related to the contents above,
• demonstrate and express (in written and oral forms) the acquired knowledge of general and technical English related to the contents above,
• analyse media messages and to evaluate them according to their treatment of multicultural and some human rights issues,
• prepare and present a media topic in collaboration with another student
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
Communication skills: written and oral expression in formal language.
Use of information technology: searching information on the Internet.
Problem solving: critical consideration of the media and their products based on analysis of the causes and results of standpoints.
Working in a group: negotiating and harmonising of data, standpoints and presentation of these in the oral and written form.

Prerequisits
Knowledge of general English on the level B1 is recommended.
