Objectives and competences
The main objective of this course is to acquaint students with
basic types, features and production conditions of contemporary
electronic media contents
Content (Syllabus outline)
• Digital journalism (definition and characteristics, influence of the technological context on the development of digital journalism).
• Creating content on social media.
• Creating vlogs (definition, historical development, types and characteristics of vlogs and vloggers).
• Creating podcasts (definition, historical development, characteristics of podcasts, RSS, podcast content, creating podcasts).
• Selected contents of digital media and their impact on users, ways of consumption of digital media contents and new forms of literacy.
Learning and teaching methods
• lectures, seminar exercises, individual work, group work (identification of a problem, division of tasks, analysis, creation of the presentation), work of a group within the larger group (presentation, discussion, conclusion).
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Knowledge and understanding:
• know the historical development of individual electronic media
and their content,
• analyse and evaluate individual types of electronic media
contents,
• understand the characteristics and needs of electronic media
audiences,
• understand media business models,
• actively participate in production of contemporary electronic
media contents.
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
• Communication skills: discussions with colleagues within the group, oral and multimedia presentation of the results of the work, written communication in final exam.
• Use of information technology: use of contemporary technologies for analysis of electronic media contents.
• Organisation skills: division of tasks, planning and execution of the presentation.
• Problem solving: planning and execution of basic contents for various types of mass media.
• Working in a group: division of tasks within the group, creation of presentation, participation in the presentation, the ability of public evaluation.
