Objectives and competences

Students will know basic information about Slovene language, writing and speaking Slovene words and some basic useful expressions, which will facilitate their stay in Slovenia. During the course student learns basic communication in the most common everyday situation. Student learns basic vocabulary, communication patterns and short texts for listening and reading, through spoken, written and grammar exercises. Course allows student to obtain basic level of Slovene language.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Basic information about Slovene language and Slovene culture. Slovene alphabet and reading texts in Slovene language on basic level. Basis of Slovene morphology and syntax. Writing short and simple texts in Slovene language. Simple verbal expression enough proper and correct for smooth communication. Basic vocabulary for communication about everyday topics.

Learning and teaching methods

• teamwork; • individual work; • work in Internet classroom; • excursion in Maribor; The information and communications technology is used for educational purposes in the teaching and learning process.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

After completed course: • student can communicate independently in a certain extent in predictable and simple communication situations, • understands important information in short, simple spoken and written texts.
