Objectives and competences
The objectives of this course are:
• to consolidate, revise and expand students’ existing knowledge of the English grammar and vocabulary at an advanced level,
• to develop the ability of the students to understand English speakers and texts in a variety of contexts at an advanced level,
• to systematically build vocabulary,
• to encourage independent research of the English language use through understanding and analyzing various English texts,
• to encourage critical thinking and interpretation through the analysis of texts,
• to evaluate the credibility of sources and arguments presented in them,to encourage active participation in discussions in English language
• to encourage deriving to conclusions from given texts and the justification of decisions – providing arguments;
• to encourage evaluation - judging ideas, texts, etc. in accordance with criteria and arguments; encourage judgment about the appropriateness, relevance and reliability of data;
• to encourage recognizing prejudices.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• English Grammar: basic grammar theories and terminology, revision and consolidation of acquired knowledge,
• consolidation of the acquired grammar based on advanced selected texts ,
• exercises for the development of language activities: reception (listening and reading), production (speaking and writing), and interaction (spoken and written), with emphasis on listening and speaking skills,
• acquisition of new vocabulary,
• consolidation and further development of skills and knowledge acquired in other courses (cross-curricular links),
• intercultural awareness - building awareness and appreciation of the English speaking world,
• addressing the use of AI in lang. development; raising awareness of its dis/advantages,
• engaging with topics relevant to AI,
• engaging with topics related to the green transition.

Prerequisits
Attendance of 80% at contact hours and completed coursework are required for taking the exam.
