Objectives and competences
The objective of this course is to expand students’ existing knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary on an advanced level, to improve the ability of the students to understand different English speakers and texts in a variety of contexts at an advanced level as well as to systematically build vocabulary.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• Use of grammatical means for the creation of cohesion and coherence in spoken and written texts.
• Development of listening, speaking, writing for the purpose of the comprehension and production of advanced text types.
• Developing advanced conversation skills in English.
The content of the course will be adjusted where necessary to meet the needs of the learners.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
on completion of this course the students will be able to:
• use English grammar and vocabulary in more advanced text types,
• use language resources and technical literature,
• understanding and production of advanced texts in English,
• use dictionaries, linguistic handbooks and corpora for learning English.

• ability to use up-to-date sources of information and technology,
• recognition of the need and willingness to continually develop existing knowledge due to the ever-changing nature of language,

Prerequisits
Attendance of 80%, regular completion of coursework and English proficiency at B2 level are required for taking the exam
Additional information on implementation and assessment • exam, - 70 %
• seminar paper. - 30 %
A passing grade on the written exam is required for a passing final grade.
