Objectives and competences

The objective of the course is to familiarise the students with the developing processes and characteristics of literary and cultural transfers between German and Slovene communication spaces in historical and current perspective and to illuminate their social functions.

Content (Syllabus outline)

• Culturological concept of collective identity • Culturological-literary scientific research of cultural transfer: definition, concepts, methods and aims. • Social contexts of the German-Slovenian transfer of ideas, literature and culture • Media, mediators, typs and forms of literary transfer between German and Slovenian literature and its medias from diachronic and synchronic point of view: German literature, theatre, newspapers and literary criticism within Slovenian communicative space.

Learning and teaching methods

• Explanation, • Report, • Discussion, • Case-study. The information and communications technology is used for educational purposes in the teaching and learning process.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

On completion of this course the student will be able to: • describe forms and characteristics of production, distribution and reception of the Germanspeaking literature and culture within the Slovenian communicative sprace, • analyse medialization ofl literary and cultural transfers and of collective identities in intra- an intercultural communication, • analyse relations and constellations in communication in the field of culture and literature – primarily between the German and Slovenian literature and other relevant neighbouring cultures – in the context of forming a Slovenian cultural identity, • recognize the influence of broader social factors and processes on German-Slovenian literary and cultural transfer, • apply terms and concepts of literary science in analysing intercultural communication and its impact on forming identity in the field of literature and their medias • critically evaluate the relationship of literature and their media in intercultural communication in relation to social power.

• communication skills (written skills in a written exam, oral and written skills in oral presentation); • use of information technology (seeking information on the Web); • team work (in producing an oral presentation)
