Objectives and competences

The objective of this course is to use the analyse of situations in which the individual is exposed to several languages, the analyse of circumstances and the language behavoir as well as the elements of language contacts with the examples from German and Slovene. This will involve also a view into the history of the language contacts between German and Slovene, an observation of these contacts in the present and a position in a typological language context.

Content (Syllabus outline)

The language pair of German and Slovene with respect to the basic facts of language typology, different aspects of the hundred years of neighbouring coexistence with all its concequences. Research of language contacts, their origin.

Seminar The information and communications technology is used for educational purposes in the teaching and learning process.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

On completion of this course the student will be able to: • use the basic facts connected with the problems of language contacts, especially with the help of recognizing the language contacts between German and Slovene. • Use and analyze the language phenomena in some language varieties of Slovene and German.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

communications skills (to express in speech and in writting), use of information technology (searching for the information on the web).
