Objectives and competences

To give students basic skills for understanding sociological texts written in english language, to give them the ability to analyse, understand and critically evaluate scientific texts; to prepare students for writing papers in English language.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Analysis of different sociological texts (corresponding to the topics covered in othere courses) which will include following : Learning sociological terminology Learning grammar trough analysis of different sociological texts Presenting and outlining culture-specific sociological discourse(s) within English language Grasping the influence of western culture on social discourse

Learning and teaching methods

• Frontal lectures and seminar work • A/V presentations • Problem solving in foreign language • Group work, pair work
