Objectives and competences

To give and extend student’s basic skills for understanding sociological texts written in english language, to give them the ability to analyse, understand and critically evaluate scientific texts; to prepare students for writing papers in English language.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Analysis of different sociological texts (corresponding to the topics covered in othere courses) which will include following : Learning sociological terminology Learning grammar trough analysis of different sociological texts Analysis of different texts, articles Presenting and outlining culture-specific sociological discourse(s) within English language Writing and presenting short essays on the basis of analysis of different texts

Frontal lectures and seminar work A/V presentations Problem solving in foreign language/Group work paraphrasing of fragments of chosen texts, Autonomous preparation of answers to chosen questions Group work
