Objectives and competences
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the characteristics of communication, the treatment of verbal and nonverbal communication and the setting in the context of interpersonal relationships. The students get knowledge about different forms and functions of interpersonal communication, with different influencing factors. They develop skills of social interactions and communication in different situations.
Content (Syllabus outline)
Definition and basic model of communication.
Communication from the standview of personality and interpersonal relations.
Special fields of communication (communicatioan and culture, communication and technology).
Analysis of verbal and nonverbal communication.
Development of social and communication skills according to different problem situations.

The information and communications technology is used for educational purposes in the teaching and learning process.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
The student will learn about the different aspects of communication, with an emphasis on the analysis of verbal and nonverbal communication.
The student will deepen his/her knowledge and understanding of social interaction in small groups and interpersonal relationships.
The student will learn about the role of communication in group processes and relationship development.
The student will gain insight into the forms of effective message formulation and participation in different types of communication.
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
The student will be able to analyse social interaction in group and interpersonal relationships.
The student will be able to apply social skills and communication skills in different interpersonal relationships and life situations.
The student will be able to lead group discussions and draw group conclusions.
The student will be able to listen critically and ask questions of the (co-)speaker.

Prerequisites for completing the course:
Each of the mentioned commitments must be assessed with a passing grade.
Passing grade of seminar work is required for taking the written examination.
At least 50% attendance at lectures and 80% attendance at tutorials is required.
