Objectives and competences
The objective of the course is to familiarize the student with the subject and methods of work and organizational psychology. Additionally, the students will obtain knowledge about the relation between men and work, groups and processes in organizations with the focus on explanatory approaches to work, personnel and organizational psychology.
During this course the student will develop four types of competences:
• Basic competences (e.g. oral and written communication)
• Professional competences (e.g. assessment, diagnostic skills)
• Enabling competences (e.g. ongoing professional development)
• Research competences (e.g. preparation of a research proposal)

The course encompasses several fields which refer to basics of work, personnel and organizational psychology.

The information and communications technology is used for educational purposes in the teaching and learning process.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Knowledge and understanding:
At the conclusion of the course students should know theoretical models and contemporary research findings in regard to human behavior in organization. In this way the student obtains explanatory knowledge/skills, such as description, assessment, diagnose, explanation and interpretation of human behavior in organizations.
Transferable/Key Skills and other attributes:
During the course the student will mostly develop the following core skills:
• Individual assessment by means of observation, testing and other methods and techniques
• Group assessment by means of observation, testing and other methods and techniques
• Organizational assessment by means of surveys, and other methods and techniques
• Situational assessment by means of surveys, and other methods and techniques
In addition, the student will obtain/develop:
• Critical evaluation of scientific texts and recognition of implication for practical work
• Readiness for continuing professional development
• Understanding of the professional role and relations to other professions

Prerequisites for completing the course:
Each of the mentioned commitments must be assessed with a passing grade.
Passing grade of the portfolio is required for taking the written examination.
At least 50% attendance at lectures and 80% attendance at tutorials is required.
