Objectives and competences

Students: - gain insight into the cultural and political development of Slovenia and develop the ability to critically evaluate current contents in the context of past development, - acquire the ability to analyze the regional structure and regional development of Slovenia in connection with the application of cohesion policy, - develop the capacity to identify and evaluate the potential of Slovenian regions for their future development, - acquire the ability to compare selected socio-economic indicators of Slovenian regions with a focus on developing a knowledge society.

Content (Syllabus outline)

1 Slovenia in European cultural and political Space. 2 Regional development of Slovenian territory and cohesion policy. 3 Identification and valorization of the potentials of the Slovenian regions for their economic development. 4 Selected socio-economic indicators of Slovenian regions with the emphasis on the development of a knowledge society.

Learning and teaching methods

- lectures, - case studies, - active discussion methods, - cooperative learning, - field work.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Students: - cite and critically interpret the turning points of Slovenian cultural and political development, and in this context evaluate current socio-political contents in concrete cases, - on the basis of the selected criteria, analyze the regional structures and regional development of Slovenia in the light of contemporary cohesion policy, and identify and critically evaluate the development potentials of Slovenian regions, - define key socio-economic indicators and comparatively define their current situation in Slovenia with a focus on developing a knowledge society.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

- students will develop capability for critical valuation of socio-economic development of Slovenia in European cultural and political space, - their knowledge and understanding of the key development strategies of Slovenia will be able to connect with the critical views of individuals and / wider community.

Prerequisits

Conditions for inclusion in work: none. Conditions for taking the exam: completed (positively graded) seminar paper, active work on seminar and lectures (at least 75% participation at lectures and at least 80% participation in seminars and seminar tutorials), active participation in field work.
