Objectives and competences
Students:
-are introduced with general points of view of disccussion of polluted environment,
- within general system theory students are able to consider pollution of the environment and landscape units as well,
- discuss about the impacts of the anthropogenic activities on the biogeochemical circles of mass and energy,
- are introduced with methodology of analysis of the environment degradation.
Content (Syllabus outline)
1. Depletion of natural sources: reversible and unreversible processes, entropy and environment degradation; use of renewable and unrenewable sources.
2. Natural and artificial biogeochemical mass and energy circulation; natural and artificial ecosystems, consequences of the anthropogenic impacts on biogeochemical mass and energy circukation.
3. Pollution of natural components: air, water, vegetation, soil, other components.
4. Environment pollution on the global level and local level. Environment pollution in Slovenia.
Learning and teaching methods
- lectures,
- seminary work,
- field work.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Students are able to:
- understand general principles of ecosystems functioning,
- estimate self-protective capacity of the concrete landscape,
- analize impact of the human activities on the ecosystems.
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
Students are able to:
- estimate the degradation level as an outcome of different anthropogenic impact,
- estimate self-protective capacity of landscape, considering it's physical geographical characteristics.
