Objectives and competences
Students:
- learn about the presence of soil in Slovenia and worldwide,
- understand the causes of soil degradation, both globally and locally,
- recognise the possibilities of soil protection,
- get to know ecoremediations as the possibilities of soil protection.
Content (Syllabus outline)
1 1. Natural approaches to protecting the soil
2. Ecoremediation and permaculture for cleaning the soil
3. Organic agriculture and soils
4. Biodynamics and soil protection
5. Social movements for the protection of soil
6. The importance of local sustainable food chains for soil conservation
7. Possibilities of own self-care for soil protection

- lectures,problem solving
- field and laboratory work.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Students:
- recognise the soil as a natural component of the landscape,
- understand the causes of soil degradation in Slovenia and worldwide,
- recognise the possibilities of soil protection (and improvement of already endangered areas).
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
- the ability to consider soil properties when planning the landscape interferences and to take into account the regeneration abilities of particular soils.

Conditions for inclusion in work: none.
Conditions for taking the exam: completed (positively evaluated) project assignment, at least 80% participation in seminar tutorials, active participation in field work.
