Objectives and competences

Students: - they can explain the issue of the threat of water on planet Earth - interpret cases of water pollution from published reports - draw ecoremediation measures ort he protection of water resources and interpret them - they know how to find connections for international cooperation in water protection.

Content (Syllabus outline)

1. Understanding of integrated approaches to water resources management according to the IWRM method. 2. Integrated management of flowing and stagnant waters using ecoremediation. 3. Drawing measures for natural water protection. 4. Preparing plans for flood-proof living with the understanding that water is a living body in the landscape 5. Knowledge of the problem of water shortages around the world and the possibility of international assistance to threatened countries through voluntary work or employment.

- lectures, - seminary work, - field work.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Student will be able to: - demonstrate knowledge about sustainable approaches of water management, - demonstrate understanding about long-term consequences of harmful human activities in the environment, - evaluate different kinds of use of aquatic and waterside ecosystems.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

- study of landscape through the fieldwork, - acquaintance with planning of European projects, - cooperation with research institute, - establishing contacts with local water managers, - preparing of promotional materials for strengthening environmental awareness.

Conditions for inclusion in work: none. Conditions for taking the exam: completed (positively evaluated) project assignment, at least 80% participation in seminar tutorials, active participation in field work.
