Objectives and competences
The aim of this course is to:
- to build on and deepen students' knowledge of contemporary linguistic trends in oral communication in German.
- to broaden and deepen students' knowledge of text types in oral communication
- to train students in appropriate oral communication as a prerequisite for successful professional independent work in the teaching of German as a foreign language
- to develop multimedia communication skills
Content (Syllabus outline)
learning about the characteristics of oral communication
- contemporary linguistic trends in oral communication in German
- discussing text types typical of oral communication; and
- discussing the linguistic devices characteristic of these text types
- an overview of modern oral communication media and their functional use
- learning about the function of non-verbal means and their use and analysis in oral communication

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Upon completion of this course, the student will
- know and identify the linguistic resources that characterise oral communication,
- correctly use, analyse and evaluate the linguistic resources and the relevant vocabulary in contemporary oral communication
- be able to orally present a clear, coherent, linguistically and stylistically appropriate text of a selected text type at C1 level.
