Objectives and competences
A student gets aquainted with the plurality and variety of literature, understands the differences through literary works, as well as with spiritually – historical and literary – aesthetic bases, which have contributed to the modern Hungarian and modern Slovene literature.
Content (Syllabus outline)
Lectures and tutorial
- deals with the characteristics of modern Hungarian and Slovene literature, their interwining, differences and similarities, references, characteristics of translated literature (from Hungarian into Slovene and vice versa)
- are focused on relations between the literatures of different national cultures and languages (Hungarian – Slovene literary contacts)
- research mutual influences, movements, sources of literary works, topics
- are deeply engaged in the relations between the aesthetics and development of literary forms and genres
- analyse the already translated works of modern Hungarian literature in Slovenia, as well as the Slovene ones in Hungary
- they represent the difference and equality of the two nations, their culture and language.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
On completion of this course the student will be able to:
- comparison of literature to the one created in homeland Hungaria as well as to one created in broader European space,
- understand the ideal, motive – thematic, stylistic, linguistic shifts and characterictics, as well as their interwining in a modern Hungarian and Slovene literature,
- analyze and interpret autonomously literary works concerning the intercultural, linguistic and aesthetic aspects,
- understand the meaning of the socio-cultural context for the formation and development of literature.

Capability of analytical and synthetic, as well as critical thinking, the feeling for aesthetic and ethic values and plurality.
