Objectives and competences

The aim of this course is to build on previous methodological knowledge and on this basis guide students in their own research. In this context, the student develops and deepens the competences of concrete quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research, which includes the ability to plan and adjust the research process on the fly, in-depth knowledge of selected data collection methods and the ability to apply them, further the ability to perform concrete, even more demanding and complex, analyses of social science data, and the ability to comprehensively interpret such analyzes , including the ability to prepare a comprehensive research report.

Content (Syllabus outline)

• Setting up a research plan. • Designing a literature review. • Implementation of social science data collection methods. • Advanced analyses of quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods social science data. • Tabular and graphical presentations of the results of social science data analyses. • Interpretations and theoretical positioning of the results of social science research.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

After completing this course, the student will be skillful in: • planning and real-time adaptation of the research process, • collecting social science data in a methodologically appropriate manner, • carrying out concrete, even more demanding and complex, analyzes of social science data, • comprehensive presentation and interpretation of such analyses, including the ability to prepare a comprehensive research report

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

The ability to independently plan and carry out small-scale research projects. • Ability to perform more demanding analytical procedures of quantitative, qualitative and mixed social science data. • Ability to write professional text according to the implemented research.
