Objectives and competences

- Knowledge of the basic terminology in the field of sculpture. - Knowledge of materials, techniques, characteristics and development of individual types and functions, reception and relation towards other fine arts. - Knowledge of the basic literature in the handled field, collections (or storages), approaches to discussion, research and preservation. - Knowledge of written sources for studying sculpture - Knowledge and understanding of methodology for studying sculpture. - Knowledge, comprehension and interpretation of the development of sculpture through different historical eras. - Knowledge and classification of iconographical topics in sculpture. - Recognition, definition, classification of chronological styles of sculpture. - Recognition, definition, classification of personal styles of sculpture. - Description of sculptures and recognition of artistic elements.

Content (Syllabus outline)

- informing the students on basic terminology in the field of sculptural creativity, materials and techniques - informing students on the history of sculptural creativity - students will gain capabilities for research on sculptures regarding the accessible literature and other sources - students will gain capabilities for validation, analysis and interpretation of sculptures - students will gain capabilities for placing sculptures in a broader cultural context

- lectures with projection - seminar works and their presentation - visits of the works in situ, in museums and galleries, discussion on them - discussions on read texts

- student will list, explain, identify, classify, edit basic terms in the field of sculpture. - student will list, explain, classify materials, techniques, characteristics and development of individual types and functions, reception and relation towards other fine arts. - student will list, identify, explain the basic literature in the handled field, collections (or storages), approaches to discussion, research and preservation. - student will list, explain, identify, define written sources for studying sculpture. - student will list, explain, identify, define the methods for studying sculpture. - student will define, explain the development of sculpture through different historical eras and recognise the connections to other fine arts. - student will list, explain, recognize, discuss, classify the iconographical topics in sculpture. - student will recognize, define, classify the chronological styles in sculpture. - student will recognize, define, classify the personal styles in sculpture. - student will describe the sculptures on the basis of artistic elements.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

- by the cognition of sculptures he or she will develop capabilities for practical work in institutions for studying and protection of cultural heritage - by the knowledge of literature and sources he or she will be enabled for research and qualitative production of seminar and other works in the field of sculpturing.
