Objectives and competences
The aim of this subject is to
- introduce the students key competences which are of great importance in the field of intercultural Germanic studies,
- stimulate reflexion and awareness,
- provide knowledge about media and culture competences,
- develop suitable skills so that students gain these key competences,
- practical trial of e-learning in form of blended learning.
Content (Syllabus outline)
1. Competences:
- definition of the competence concept
- the role and function of key competences in intercultural communication and in the field of intercultural German studies
2. Multimedia competence:
- definition of multimedia competences in the context of contemporary intercultural German studies,
- use, analysis and critics of multimedia in the field of intercultural Germanic studies (e.g. webquest, podcast, blogs, forums and others),
- multimedia from the point of view of technical and informational science,
- blended learning as a versatile and adaptiveform of e-learning.
3. Cultural competence:
- cultural/intercultural competence in the field of foreign language studies,
- specific aspects of the German speaking European area in the filed of cultures;
- apecific aspects of the German-Sloven contact area in the field of cultures – mutual influences and development.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Knowledge and understanding:
- use proper multimedia information technology in intercultural communication,
- analyse convenience of multimedia usage and function,
- communicate and participate in forums and e-classroom Moodle,
- create their own products with the help of multimedia (e.g. webquest, interviews and others),
- use gained knowledge about culture of German speaking and German-Slovene region in intercultural communication,
- plan, prepare and implement e-learning in form of blended learning.
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
- use of various electronic communication skills,
- use of information technology,
- organisation skills: preparing projects,
- solving problems: language and content,
- group work: smaller or bigger groups, pair work,
- planning and use of e-learning in form of blended learning.
