Objectives and competences
The objective of this course is to acquaint students with the basic epistemological, methodological anf functional interactions between literary, literary-theoretical and intercultural dicourses.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• Basic concepts of literary and cultural theory.
• Literature and culture as symbolic order.
• System-theoretical aspects of interculturality.
• Literary systems: intercultural contact.
• Literary competence and intercultural communication.
• Literary conventions and intercultural competence.
• Interculturality and intertextuality.
• Literature, interculturality and GFL (German as a foreign language).

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
On completion of this course the student will be able to • demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts in cultural and literary theory, • recognize and evaluate the role of those processes in context of intercultural discourses, • identify structural and functional aspects of literary systems and critically evaluate their role in intercultural contact, • analyse patterns of intercultural communication using methods of literary theory and cultural history
