Objectives and competences

The student gets acquainted with didactical- theoretical methods of early foreign language (German) teaching; tests the aquired knowledge and skills of early teaching of German and evaluates it constructively and critically. The student acquires knowledge and skills, which enable him/her to estimate and produce suitable teaching materials. The student also acquires competences in mediating literary texts and geographic and cultural contents in the foreign language classroom according to the level of the target group.

Content (Syllabus outline)

- recognising, testing and evaluating the didactical-theoretical methods of early foreign language learning, teaching and acquisition of foreign language – German; - integral early learning and acquisition of foreign language – German; - narrative approach; - stimulation of all four linguistic skills; - materials for early foreign language teaching-analysis of those available and preparation of new ones; - reflection of one’s own literary socialization, reading literacy and the student’s literary socialization and their roles in the foreign language classroom; - literary socialization in a foreign language – German; - selected literary texts in the foreign language classroom; - productive and active work with literary texts; - planing and simulation of pupil hours; - observation and evaluation of pupil hours.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

- The student acquires different didactic methods for early teaching and learning of German; - The student is able to evaluate and produce suitable teaching materials. - The student is able to chose and competently deal with literature in the foreign language classroom according to the age.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

Key transferable skills are deliberate transfer of acquired theoretical knowledge and skills about early teaching, acquiring, learning and assimilation of German into practice.
