Objectives and competences

Fundamental literary-stylistic definitions of Slovene short prose in the second half of the 20th Century. Presentation of basic characteristics of Slovenian post-war short prose. Presentation of basic characteristics of Slovene contemporary literary postmodernism through the short story. Establishing connections with the contemporary Slovene short prose typology. Interpretation of Slovene contemporary short prose corpus.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Content-subject complex of short narrative prose in the second half of the 20th Century is relatively extensive. It is therefore reasonable to divide it into three fundamental parts: 1. Literary-stylistic characteristics of post-war (after the 2. world war) short prose in Slovenia. 2. Literary-stylistic characteristics of contemporary short prose in times of Slovene literary postmodern age, which includes subchapters of Slovene contemporary short prose typology. 3. The interpretation of contemporary Slovene short prose corpus.

Learning and teaching methods

Scientific methods: formal-analytical, comparative and interpretation method. Learning methods: formal-logical methods – analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction, description. The information and communications technology is used for educational purposes in the teaching and learning process.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Ability to understand and knowing of fundamental literary-stylistic definitions of Slovene short prose in the second half of the 20th Century: ability to understand and knowing of fundamental characteristics of Slovene post-war short prose; ability to understand and knowing of fundamental characteristics of Slovene contemporary literary postmodernism trough the short prose and the ability to establish connections with the contemporary Slovene short prose typology. 2. Ability and skill of interpretation of the Slovene contemporary short prose corpus.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

Knowledge of fundamental literary-stylistic facts of Slovene contemporary post-war literature and their logical linking to or distinguishing from the context of contemporary short prose in the second half of the 20th Century. Interpretative mastering of the Slovene short prose corpus.
