Objectives and competences
1. Understanding the multiplicity of effects on the formation of an individual's spatial performance.
2. Understanding the interplay between the principles of sustainable development and principles of lifelong education.
3. Acquire knowledge and develop skills in the option of interpersonal communication within the research and educational work.
4. Developing critical and creative thinking and problem solving sustainable development-oriented learning.
5. Acquiring knowledge and skills to identify local and national environmental and developmental potentials as a basis for quality of life.
6. Developing the skills of entrepreneurship and teamwork.
7. Training for a consistent mastery of knowledge and developing skills for social participation at various levels of decision making.
Content (Syllabus outline)
1. Cognitive processes and comprehension of geo. environment.
2. The principles of sustainablility.
3. Education for sustainablility as a lifelong learning: developing critical and creative thinking, problem-solving oriented education.
4. New educational requirements and related new educational strategy in addressing the issues of the sustainability.
5. Interdisciplinarity and the role of geography correlation in education for active citizenship.
6. Proactivity: education and public information is a prerequisite for involvement in civic decision-making.
7. Educational applications: organization and implementation of the organizations and institutions in which geographers are imployed for a variety of educational needs.
8. Team project work: an example of good practice to implement the principles of the sustainability.
Learning and teaching methods
Lectures, conversation with discussion, seminary work (as project team work).
The information and communications technology is used for educational purposes in the teaching and learning process.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Students:
- understand the interdependence of the principles of sustainable development and educational needs to achieve them;
- know how to transfer theoretical knowledge into practice: they know how to use various sources to search and present geographical information and develop ability to reflect upon and evaluate the results of their work;
- develop communicational abilities and skills, especially those for cooperative work / teamwork;
- know how to use education and information communication technology;
- know how to plan the presentation of environmental, social and economic sustainability problems, events, organizations and institutions for a variety of awareness and information to the public needs.
