Students have, in connection with numerous other humanistic and sociological contents, the opportunities to deepen their consciousness about the role of religion and its meaning and to value historical and contemporary intercultural phenomena. Content (Syllabus outline)

Contemporary world of plural values and living orientations demands anew reflection of the religion's role and its meaning in the different areas of culture and society. That is why the study of the history of religions leads to understanding of diverse religious traditions and at the same time introduces listeners with the dynamics of historical encounters of different religions. History of religions systematically introduces fundamental characteristics of individual religious systems and at the same time singles out the notion of interreligious tolerance, which is of key importance for the cohabitation of cultures and civilizations in contemporary world. In the contemporary history of religions are of special importance religions in history and society (religions and wars, religious ethics, dialogue between religions, religions and politics, religions and globalization).

Learning and teaching methods

Explanation, work with sources, individual study, discussion. The information and communications technology is used for educational purposes in the teaching and learning process.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Students' knowledge enables them to understand the laws of religious faith, religious thinking and other forms of religious sensuality and religious thought. Student is able to find and use appropriate sources, relevant domestic and foreign literature and is able to analyze and synthesize selected themes.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

Student can use acquired specific knowledge and methodological approaches in other fields. Subject is connected with historical and other humanistic and sociological subjects and contents (anthropology, physiology, theology, sociology, psychology, ethnology, culturology, archeology, geography).
