To study and develop active use of the vocabulary in the field of traffic and transportation engineering To study characteristic features of English technical language To develop reading skills for understanding technical texts in English To develop appropriate writing skills for drawing up technical texts in English (abstracts, business letters)

Content (Syllabus outline)

Traffic and transportation engineering terminology in English (technical texts, papers), graphs, basic mathematical terms Business letters, application for job, EU curriculum vitae Morphology and syntax of technical English: affixes, suffixes, compounds, verbal forms, complex sentences, embedded clauses, nominalization Technical texts in English: structure of the paper, indicative and informative abstract, referencing

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

- use technical terminology in English language - understand English technical texts, audio and video recordings in English language - write a technical text, their CV and job application in English language - describe diagrams and use the basic mathematical concepts in English language - communicate with other experts from the field in English language

Acquired knowledge can be used in: - the study of technical literature in English - drawing up shorter texts in English technical language - communication in the specific field
