Objectives and competences
The objective of the subject is understanding og those themes of geography which represent basis for transport, spatial and environmental planning, as well for planning and management of transport and logistics operation. Students will identify various types of settlements and its influence on migrations and mobility.
Content (Syllabus outline)
1. Geography of settlements – selected themes of demography, migrations, population structure
2. Geography of settlements – selected themes of settlement structure, cities, environmental problems, sustainable development
3. Economic geography – selected themes of economy, agriculture
4. Economic geography – industry, tourism, globalisation
5. Political geography - selected themes of political demarcation of world
6. Political geography - selected themes of political demarcation of states, geopolitics
7. Quantitative methods in geography - selected themes: introduction in quantitative methods in geography, spatial data, spatial units, sources of data
8 . Quantitative methods in geography - selected themes: statistical and spatial sampling, cartography and quantitative data
9. Transport geography of Slovenia - transportation modes, networks and terminals: an overview
10. Transport geography of Slovenia - road transportation, rail transportation
11. Transport geography of Slovenia - maritime transport, air transport, intermodal transportation
